WHAT'S NEW

What is happening in our lives

On January 28, 2005 I injured my right shoulder while helping to install a sign.

The workman comp doctor, after  an  MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging),  referred me to an orthopaedic center. The orthopaedic doctor took more x-rays .  The diagnose and treatment is three fold.

First:  a Frozen Shoulder.  (Imagine, living in sunny Florida and having a frozen shoulder.)
It is sometimes called adhesive capsulitis.  The capsule tissue that extends around the entire ball and socket of the shoulder is contracted.  This often causes pain and stiffness when you try to move your arm.

Second:   a/c joint strain.  There is strain in the muscles that make up the rotator cuff.  The supra spinetus (or something sounding like that) that comes from the shoulder blade to the rotator cuff area is making my shoulder weak, tender, and painful.

Third:  Partial tear of rotator cuff tendons.  A partial thickness  supralpihetul rotator cuff tear.  (sounds like greek or latin to me)

The treatment:  1)  Cortisone Injections directly into the joint to help reduce inflammation.
Before  leaving the doctor's office  I received an injection.

                      2)  Physical Therapy.  The Orthopaedist has referred me to a physical therapist.
This will be taking place three times a week for three months.

                     3)  Arthroscopic Surgery.  (a pencil-shaped lighting and lens system)  Since I do not
have a complete tear this treatment may or may not take place depending on
                          healing progress.

Thank you for your prayers.
